History

With a history dating back to the 11th-century, when Torteword Manor was recorded in the Domesday book, the estate at Tortworth has been the ancestral seat of the Ducie family for 350 years and counting.

Found at the southern fringes of the Cotswolds, rural England's foodie capital, local, fresh produce is sourced from good suppliers and served daily at both restaurants, one housed in a 60-foot high atrium. Heading upstairs, the recent refurbishment has created elegant guest bedrooms and suites to reflect modern British heritage.

Food & beverage

Found in the old library, the 1853 Restaurant & Bar has maintained many of its original features including oak-panelling, ornate archways and a grand fireplace with views out across the gardens.

Menus make the most of British produce with features dishes including roasted pork belly with black pudding, roasted fillet of hake with cassoulet and a trio of English cheeses. The wine list brings together some modern newcomers and firm-favourites, whilst also offering some pairing recommendations. Sunday lunch is a more relaxed affair with a carvery served by Chef and accompanied by all the trimmings.

Afternoon tea is served traditional or with a glass of champagne or prosecco and starts with finger sandwiches including Wye Valley smoked salmon, followed by freshly baked scones, tea pastries and cakes.

Grounds & Gardens

30 acres of estate grounds with access to an extensive arboretum housing more than 300 plant and tree specimens make a great walk out.

Other facilities

Open to guests and members alike, a fully equipped gym, sauna, steam room and swimming pool are available daily along with 6 fully renovated treatment rooms.

The gym offers a range of cardiovascular and resistance training equipment suited to most levels of fitness. There are also personal training sessions, fitness assessments and a programme of classes led by fully qualified instructors.

At Leaf Spa, appointments are available for a range of specialist beauty treatments along with manicures and pedicures, facials, massages and special occasion packages.
