Great value for money in terms of being able to stay in central London without breaking the bank. However it is a university dorm and not a hotel so the experience and amenities are different, which is great for travelling by yourself but may not be suited for groups or families. One critique is that due to both the age of the building and safety requirements the windows do not open much (less than 6 inches), which means the rooms can get uncomfortably hot.

I arrived after 10.00 pm. Was shown to the room by the night receptionist. Just before turning in to bed I noticed that there was no bedding i.e. pillow case, duvet cover and bed sheet. The night receptionist managed to get me a pillow with case, duvet cover and two clothes hangers. In the morning the receptionist provided me with a fitted sheet over the mattress and a toilet roll. In both instances the staff members were very helpful and friendly.

A very quiet residence during my stay, with a very warm welcome from the weekend staff! This residence is excellent value for money in terms of location, and is ideal if you’re looking for a simple place to sleep whilst enjoying the city during the day. No complaints whatsoever regarding cleanliness in my room or the corridors. The room has just the bare essentials, but it’s perfectly adequate for short stays. I highly recommend this option :)

Worth it for the price - I brought my own fan after reading reviews as London was 30c. Being on the ground floor helped, plus closing curtains during the day. Team provided me with an extra pillow and towel. Kitchen was clean and useful for storing food. Noticed a lack of plug sockets in the room. Felt very secure, and would recommend for the price and location. Construction works outside during weekdays from 7.30am (summer 2026).

This was my second stay at the FGH and a much more comfortable one. Given the summer heat wave, I appreciate being placed on a lower floor, being assigned a room that did not get the morning sun on request and having a table fan. It was also very useful to have access to a kitchen. I appreciate the staff being very responsive - providing an extra pillow and doing a linen change in a timely manner.

The flat was excellent accommodation for my daughter whilst she did a summer internship. The facilities were clean; it was safe; everyone was friendly and the kitchen facilities were appreciated. The only suggestion we have is to include a small desk lamp in the room. Thank you.

The office staff were superb. The room was clean. It was a very warm/hot night and it was a pity that I could not open the window wider (but I suspect I know why). I was however surprised that there was only one plug socket and none beside the bed where a light might be attached.

My second visit and it's a great location for exploring, unwinding in the shade of the park next door and not feeling as if you're in Central London even though so much us on your doorstep. Highly recommend, staff lovely and the place was so clean and well cared for. Thank you.

Room as described, good location for my trip, reception staff were good. Probably upper end of what I would pay to stay in a university room, but the en suite swung it.
