Overview

Lillian Penson Hall offers affordable accommodation in a quiet garden square, just a two minute walk from Paddington Station.

Built in 1953, the hall undergoes frequent refurbishments, most recently in 2006.  The Hall is part of the University of London. 

All the rooms benefit from ensuite shower and wc facilities, and our prices include the following:

  • Daily rubbish collection, weekly cleaning
  • LAN broadband internet access (free of charge)
  • 24 hour Reception/Security Luggage
  • Luggage storage on the day of arrival

History

The Hall is named after Dame Lillian Penson who was Vice-Chancellor of the University from 1948 to 1951. She was the first woman to hold such a position in the United Kingdom.

Food & beverage

Please note that meals are not included in accommodation prices but you are most welcome to use the restaurant facilities, open for breakfast and dinner every day. Prices may vary depending on menu but approximate prices are as follows: breakfast from £2 to £3, complete dinner from £4.00 to £5.00.  Please check the information boards on arrival for details on the menu.

In addition, there are many local restaurants and supermarkets in walking distance.

Other facilities

Lillian Penson Hall is the perfect place to relax after a busy day: you can enjoy the the Talbot Square gardens, our television room and games room. We also have a quiet study room, computer room and common room on site, which all guests are welcome to use.

Every room has a broadband internet access point, requiring an ethernet cable.  These cables are available at reception, to be returned to reception on your departure.  Internet access is free of charge.

Lillian Penson hall has coin operated laundry and ironing facilities.

Arrival information:  check in is from 2pm on the day of arrival. If you arrive earlier and wish to explore the local area or wait in our reception area, you are welcome to leave your luggage with reception - please request this on the booking form. On the day of your departure, please vacate the room before 10am and return your key to reception.

Directions:

Paddington and Lancaster Gate Underground stations are both approximately 2 minutes walk from the hall, as is Paddington mainline station, providing you with excellent transport links around London and the UK.

To reach Lillian Penson Hall from Paddington Station, leave the station onto Praed Street and start walking to your right. Turn right into London Street and then right again into Sussex Gardens. Turn right onto Talbot Square and you will find Lillian Penson Hall at the far left of the square.
