Overview

The Northern Hotel, a hidden gem in the heart of the Angus countryside, has been providing hospitality for over three centuries. The hotel continues to go from strength to strength, constantly striving to improve with a winning combination of quality food, lovely accommodation and friendly, attentive service.

The Northern Hotel, proudly boasts 15 en suite bedrooms, all sumptuously furnished in neutral materials providing a restful space to relax in. Rooms are well proportioned and benefit from sash and case windows. Luxury toiletry range Gilchrist & Soames is used throughout the bathrooms providing the epitome of luxury.


History

Brechin was once home to the Picts - a Celtic race of people who inhabited this part of Scotland 2000 years ago. This old market town celebrates their life and times at Pictavia, on the outskirts of Brechin, a visitor centre dedicated to their history. Pictavia is located within a countryside park, the Brechin Castle Centre, which offers a fantastic day out for all the family.

The Baillie restaurant is the ideal place to meet and catch up with family and friends in a relaxed dining environment. The chef, Ian Bowen selects fresh local produce to offer a delicious menu complemented by daily specials. Awarded the Eat Scotland accolade since 2007, the kitchen brigade consistently produces a high standard of food which is coupled with friendly and efficient service. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast lunch & dinner or perhaps you will pop in for morning coffee and a pastry. It also offers a comprehensive lunch and dinner menu as well as an impressive array of wines.

Hudson’s Bar provides comfortable surroundings in which to relax and unwind with friends. The bar shows all major sporting events on widescreen televisions or perhaps you would prefer to listen to your favourite tracks on the jukebox. A regular host to top bands and DJ nights, the bar aims to reach out and welcome all age groups.

Check In: From 2.00pm Check Out: By 11.00am

Directions: By Car: From the North. Take the A90 and come off at the first Brechin turn off (B966.) Travel through Trinity and on entering Brechin go over the roundabout and you are on Clerk Street. The hotel is the last building on the left.

From the South: Take the M90 to the A90 and continue to the first 'Brechin' turn off. Exit at this junction and follow the road into Brechin. You will pass Woolworth’s on your right and then a Pedestrian crossing. The Hotel is on the next bend on the opposite corner and the car park is down the Panmure Street to the right of the Hotel

By train: The nearest railway station is Montrose, which is 8 miles away. There is a regular Inter-City service from all parts of the country and guests alighting at Montrose can then catch a connecting bus service to Brechin.

By Bus: Brechin bus station is only a few hundred yards from the Hotel and buses on the Aberdeen - Dundee and Montrose - Edzell routes stop here.
