St Hugh's College, Oxford

University residence

St Hugh’s College offers bed and breakfast accommodation amid listed buildings and beautiful gardens. Its North Oxford location is next door to the city’s trendiest quarter, Jericho, and only a fifteen-minute walk or a short bus ride from Oxford’s museums, shops, bars and restaurants, making the College the perfect oasis of calm for students to live and study, and a great springboard for visitors to explorer the city.

St Hugh’s has a range of rooms available, from ensuite to basic. Visitors can opt for Edwardian heritage, with rooms in the Main Building, or alternatively there are ensuite rooms in the award-winning and environmentally sensitive Maplethorpe and Rachel Trickett Buildings, as well as premium bed and breakfast suites in The Dickson Poon University of Oxford China Centre Building, opened by His Royal Highness Prince William in 2014.

Also available are discounted single rooms in the Kenyon, Wolfson and MGA buildings, these are usually student rooms and offer an excellent taste of College life.

The College accommodation gives guests an interesting and affordable alternative to modern hotels, at the heart of one of the world’s top universities. All rooms are furnished and appointed as a typical scholar’s study bedroom, with the extra provision for visitors of bed linen, towels, toiletries, and tea and coffee making facilities.

A comfortable and clean en-suite room with plenty of space, in the Rachel Trickett building. Nice hot shower (but the wet-room could do with an upgrade!). Was on the 4th floor with no lift but one of the very kind porters carried up my case. All the staff were most friendly and helpful. The...

The building and grounds were beautiful, the room and bed very comfortable and the bathroom facilities good. The only drawback was that there wasn’t a sink in the bedroom as advertised, but as there were several just across the hall and not many people staying on that floor, it was no problem.

Loved the experience. The people at the gate were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Answered all my queries. St. Hughes is also the college assigned to me as part of my MSc course at Oxford so looking forward to college events and getting more involved with St Hugh's college activities.

The room was adequate but very basic and shabby. I was cold as the ancient heating was inadequate and the washroom window didn't shut. The staff were lovely, good breakfast. Liked the slippers, biscuits, tea, fluffy towels. Nice hot shower. Lovely gardens. Good bus service into centre.

The college had beautiful buildings and gardens. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was good - only a quick 15-minute walk to the centre of town.
