Overview

St Hugh’s College offers bed and breakfast accommodation amid listed buildings and beautiful gardens. Its North Oxford location is next door to the city’s trendiest quarter, Jericho, and only a fifteen-minute walk or a short bus ride from Oxford’s museums, shops, bars and restaurants, making the College the perfect oasis of calm for students to live and study, and a great springboard for visitors to explorer the city.

St Hugh’s has a range of rooms available, from ensuite to basic. Visitors can opt for Edwardian heritage, with rooms in the Main Building, or alternatively there are ensuite rooms in the award-winning and environmentally sensitive Maplethorpe and Rachel Trickett Buildings, as well as premium bed and breakfast suites in The Dickson Poon University of Oxford China Centre Building, opened by His Royal Highness Prince William in 2014.

Also available are discounted single rooms in the Kenyon, Wolfson and MGA buildings, these are usually student rooms and offer an excellent taste of College life.

The College accommodation gives guests an interesting and affordable alternative to modern hotels, at the heart of one of the world’s top universities. All rooms are furnished and appointed as a typical scholar’s study bedroom, with the extra provision for visitors of bed linen, towels, toiletries, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Special requirements/requests - If you need any further information or have any individual requests, please make a note in the "Additional information" section of the booking form or call the telephone number noted on your booking receipt and the vendor will be happy to advise you further on what they can offer.

As a foreign visitor, staying in the main building with its doors, carpets, taps was a delightfully traditional British experience. The walk to the toilet and to the bathroom on the corridor was a little long, maybe 20 metres. The garden is beautiful and gives plenty of opportunities to sit down and to enjoy it. The breakfast was great: in the dining hall, full English (with vegetarian alternatives) or continental (jam, yogurt and fruits) or even both. The fresh, warm croissants were incredible!

This college is quiet and has lovely gardens. Our room was up about 12 outside steps which would not be accessible to those who could not lug their suitcase up. The shower was strong but easily twisted to scorching water - but very good if care was taken. The ceiling sensor flashed all night - it didn't bother my partner but I am a lighter sleeper and it bothered me. We didn't have time to stay for brunch, but a quick look at the light airy dining hall showed a lot of fruit available.

All staff, from Porter, kitchen staff and manager, gardeners were lovely. Plentiful breakfasts in elegant refectory and beautiful gardens. Double ensuite room was simple but clean. Would recommend as a quiet place to stay, 15 minutes walk to centre, close to bus routes.

I really enjoyed staying at St. Hugh’s. The gardens were lovely, the location was great, the breakfast was tasty, the bed was comfortable, and the porters were friendly and helpful.

The desk was nearly as big as the double bed but that wasn’t a problem. A beautiful college and great value for the money.
