Overview

Sydenham ( Warren wood) – Warren wood beat is a productive and pleasurable Beat to fish, it holds good numbers of Brown trout and Grayling and has been known as a place to hook daytime sea trout in the later part of the season. The Bottom of the Beat exhibits great dry fly and light duo waters, with trout usually found free rising here. The middle section by the existing woodland favours dry, duo with some of the pools just below and above the bridge lending themselves to the European nymphing, particularly in higher flows. The upper section of the Beat has more riffled features with a couple very productive pools in between.  This is a big grayling water with plenty of specimen fish over 16”, Grayling to 18” have been caught here with much larger fish observed, it’s just a matter of time before a 3lb get caught!
