Overview

Talybont North offers self-catered rooms to individuals or groups wishing to come to Cardiff for leisure or other purposes and is an approximate 30-35 minute walk away from the city centre and all its amenities.

All rooms are single occupancy ensuite within flats of 5 bedrooms, with access to a shared kitchen/dining area.

Check in: 15:00 (3:00pm) - 22:00 (10:00pm) (arrivals may be allowed outside this window if your travel plans can't be adjusted however this is subject to availability)

Check out: 00:00 (12:00am) - 10:00 (10:00am)

Food & beverage

The kitchen is available to use, which has full cooking appliances and utensils.

Tea and coffee making facilities are available in each kitchen.

Tesco Extra and fast food shops are within a five minute walk.

Other facilities

Towels provided (1 x bath and 1 x hand towel) bed made up for arrival.

Complimentary toiletries on arrival.

Iron and ironing board is available in the kitchen area.

Laundry facilities available on-site (charges applicable).

Please note that no televisions or radios are supplied.

Rooms are allocated over 3 floors and there is no lift in the building. If you have any special requirements or you require assistance vacating the building in the case of a fire alarm activation, please add this information in the 'Additional Information' section of the booking form.

Cardiff University WIFI is available to guests free of charge. The service will provide access from a laptop or mobile device to public web pages and web-based email only; other services may not work. Details on how to register are located in your bedroom and kitchen or alternatively can be obtained from reception.

In relation to the Smoke-Free Premises Act, the University is committed to making its premises completely smoking-free for the protection of all its staff and students and has issued a policy encompassing government legislation. Therefore, smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is not permitted in or on any University premises, except in designated areas. In University residences this includes all study bedrooms, bars, meeting rooms, grounds and communal areas. All members of the University community, students, conference guests and visitors are required to follow this policy while using University premises.

Directions from the M4 West

Exit the motorway at Junction 32 and follow A470 into Cardiff
Warning: Speed Cameras along the A470
When approaching the Gabalfa Interchange (where the A470 crosses the A48) remain in the left-hand lane and do not go over the flyover
This will bring you to a roundabout
Take the 4th exit onto the A48, signposted Talybont Student Residences
Almost immediately after joining the A48, take the left lane and prepare to turn left at the first traffic lights onto Excelsior Road
At mini roundabout take 1st exit, and then take the 1st right (McDonald's is on the left-hand side)
Turn almost immediatley right again, into Talybont
Drive through the security gates and follow the signs to Southgate House Reception where temporary parking is available whilst you collect your key.

Directions from the M4 East

For those travelling by train to Cardiff, Talybont is approximately 40-minute walk from Cardiff Central Station. The nearest train station is Cathays which is a 25-minute walk to the residence. Alternatively, taxis are available from the city centre, prices vary depending on distance and traffic flow. Please ask the driver to drop off at Southgate House Reception.
