Overview

The Hostel provides affordable accommodation for tourists and backpackers wishing to explore Edinburgh. 

Located directly opposite Haymarket Station in the West End, The Hostel is only a 15-minute walk to the West End of Princes Street and just steps away for the local bus interchange. 

Edinburgh Castle and the famous Royal Mile are a must-see and are easily accessible on foot or by public transport. Right on the doorstep, St Mary's Cathedral, a popular tourist landmark and within an easy 15-20 minute stroll is the infamous Grassmarket area which awards a  whole host of bars and restaurants.

History

Embracing the original Victorian features, The Hostel is a spacious building over two levels and many of the rooms have their own period features.

Food & beverage

The Hostel offers free tea and coffee throughout the day and has fully equipped self-catering kitchen with dining room for guest use. The kitchen is open from 8.00am until 11.00pm.

Guests also have the opportunity to buy a daily continental breakfast which includes; cereals, toast with spreads, cordial, tea and coffee for only £3.00 per person.

Grounds & Gardens

The Hostel has a beautifully refurbished outside terrace and garden and weather permitting, there are summer BBQ's between the months of May-August.

Long-term bookings are accepted up to a maximum of 2 weeks, with the option to extend subject to management approval.

Please note there are limited electrical sockets in the dormitory rooms. 

Children under the age of 18 are not permitted in the property's shared dormitory rooms.

All guests checking into the hostel must have a Photo ID in the form of a passport or driving license. Check-in will not be permitted without sufficient photo ID

The hostel does not have lift access at the hostel, all rooms are accessible by stairs only.

Late Check-in Fee - Any guests arriving after 11.00pm will be required to pay a £5 late check-in fee on arrival to the member of the night staff.  Please note this is a one-off fee of £5 per booking and not per person

The female dorm is only available for booking by females.

Late arrivals after 11pm will incur a £5 late check-in fee (per booking, not per person).  The main door will be locked.  Please ring the night bell for attention and the property's live int team will be able to check you in after 11pm.

Directions: By Rail:

The Hostel is located directly opposite Haymarket train station. Exit the station and cross over the road to Clifton Terrace.

From Waverley Station, the Hostel is located in the West End, approx 20-minute walk. Exit Waverley station and cross to the gardens side of Princes Street and catch LRT bus number 26 or 31 to Haymarket.  Tram and train tickets cost £1.70 single fare of £4.00 for a day ticket.

By Air:

From Edinburgh Airport guests can take the Airlink 100 bus or tram from outside the terminal building and depart at Haymarket Station. Buses and trams run regularly throughout the day and the bus throughout the night from Edinburgh Airport to the city centre.

By Car:

There is no parking available at the hostel.  On-street parking is available in the pay and display bays which are payable between 8.30am and 6.30pm.  Parking is only free after 6.30pm each evening until 8.30am the following day and all day on a Sunday.  There is a 24 NCP car park located nearby at Castle Terrace, approx 15 minute walk.
