Histoire

For more than 500 years, St John’s has been a community in determined pursuit of excellence in education, learning, religion and research. These five centuries have shaped the College you encounter today, ensuring continuing academic independence and, most important of all, building on the myriad academic advancements made by members of the College and their wider contributions to humanity and to the world as a whole

St John’s has long been one of the biggest colleges in Cambridge, and has helped deliver an impressive list of Nobel Laureates, Prime Ministers, scientists and philosophers, authors, writers, actors, musicians and sportspeople, inventors, business leaders and industry pioneers.  Alumni have included the classicist Roger Ascham, the social reformer William Wilberforce, the poet William Wordsworth, the physicist Paul Dirac, and the athlete Christopher Brasher.

The bar is also renowned for its exceptional range of wines and champagnes, featuring the College's own labelled port, making it an ideal memento for guests.

To ensure the utmost guest satisfaction, all members of the Front of House team have attended Allergy Awareness training. Furthermore, all staff members possess extensive food hygiene qualifications, exceeding the minimum standards, and are engaged in continuous training programs to maintain the highest levels of service and safety.
