Overview

St John’s College celebrated its 500th Anniversary in 2011. The college was founded on the site of the 13th-century Hospital of St John in Cambridge, expanding over the subsequent five hundred years to become the largest of the Oxford and Cambridge colleges by area.

St John's has magnificent gardens and extends onto the famous Cambridge Backs beyond the River Cam, with its courts connected by the beautiful Bridge of Sighs. Although the Main Gate of the college leads right into the heart of the city, the college courts provide a serene and peaceful environment for guests.

The Bed and Breakfast offer bedrooms in recently refurbished rooms situated through out the college. These rooms accommodate students during Term time. Both twin and single rooms are available and all have ensuite facilities. Please note that twin rooms have separate single beds in different rooms and are connected with a small lounge.  The college does not have double beds within the college.

The college was awarded a 4* rating by Visit England, for three years running.

PLEASE NOTE: THE COLLEGE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 16YRS

Excellent if quirky accommodation. The reception was well attended, directions were precise. Food at breakfast had a very good range and great quality - I always go by the taste of the mushrooms as they are awkward to keep but it was very tasty. Loved the greek yoghurt. The cost is a little on the high side, but completely understandable considering the location and is decent value for money. Will definitely be booking through you again if we ever come up to Cambridge. Highly recommended.

Our 2-night stay was such a special experience. We loved our spacious and clean double dorm rooms with bathroom and kitchenette. The view onto the courtyard was spectacular. Breakfast was very good, with lots of options. The people at the reception were very friendly and helpful. And the location is spot-on in the middle of town, very close to pubs, restaurants, shops, sights etc. We loved it and highly recommend staying in St John's for a full college experience.

Our fourth return trip as we love the college history. Location, grounds and food. Only downside this time was our room was above the bar which was noisy during a well attended conference.

Lovely place to stay. Easy access to Kings. Clean, comfortable room. Room was on top floor… lots of stairs, it would have been useful to have known this. Otherwise, a pleasant stay.

Overall this was a great stay in terms of facilities, service and food quality for the price. I stayed as part of the CluB-12 conference (Luciana Hannibal).

Absolutely loved staying at St John's, felt very honoured to have been allowed to stay there and will definitely return next time I'm in Cambridge.

An ideal location for the dinner I attended in the College - room was spartan but good value with amazing views - perfect for my needs.
