Panoramica

Situated right in the heart of the city, Jesus College perfectly blends the old and the new, with quadrangles from the 16th to the 21st century. Located within walking distance of many tourist attractions including the Bodleian Library, the Sheldonian Theatre and the Ashmolean Museum, guests can immerse themselves in historic Oxford culture. 

The Westgate shopping centre is nearby, as are many restuarants, bars and traditional pubs. There is easy access to coach, bus and railway links travelling to London, Bicester Village, and the Cotswolds. Guests are welcome to explore the historic quadrangles, hall and chapel while visiting.

Offering a mix of recently modernised single and double ensuite bedrooms, and modern suites to fit your accommodation needs.

Storia

Founded in 1571, Jesus College is the only College in either Oxford or Cambridge to have been founded during the reign of Elizabeth I.

In 1974, the College became one of the first five men’s colleges to admit women. Famous alumni include T.E. Lawrence (‘Lawrence of Arabia’); Norman Manley (former Prime Minister of Jamaica); Francesca Simon (author of the children's book series Horrid Henry) and Harold Wilson (former Prime Minister of Britain during the 60s/70s), whose Order of the Garter banner can be seen in the Chapel.

The college is made up from buildings dating back to the 16th Century, with the most recent facilities opening in September 2022.

Full English breakfast is served between 8:00 - 9:00 am Monday to Sunday in the Elizabethan Dining Hall*

*(NB. breakfasts on Sundays during term time will be a continental package to collect. Term dates are available on the Oxford university website.)

All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge.

Guests are welcome to relax on the College grounds, visit the Chapel, and view the portraits in the Dining Hall.

I was there for a college members' event (Gaudy dinner) which was superbly organised and enjoyable, as usual. My room in the new Cheng Building was as well designed and comfortable as could be hoped for, bearing in mind that it's student accommodation. Being a light sleeper, I found the periodic hum (of the ventilation system?) slightly obtrusive, but otherwise all was absolutely fine.

Lovely staff and decent room and breakfast. Unfortunately there was so much noise from the street outside that we didn’t get much sleep. People out drinking until the early hours and then waste collection and cleaning of Covered Market starting early on Sunday morning.

ideal for what i was doing - a Gaudy. The room was what i expected - v small, but its a student room. Good value for money as well as the breakfast. Staff very helpful and accommodating.

Dinner was great. Staff and service wonderful. Room was beautiful but looked directly onto Macdonald’s Cornmarket which opens until 3am. It was very noisy!
