Oversikt

Tamesis House har en sentral og velutstyrt beliggenhet, mindre enn 10 minutters gange fra Oxford sentrum. Dette er et ideelt utgangspunkt for gjester som ønsker å utforske de mange lokale attraksjonene rett utenfor døren, enten det er til fots, på sykkel, med buss, tog, bil eller til og med en avslappende tur nedover elven. Med tilgang til raske og regelmessige offentlige transportforbindelser rett rundt hjørnet, er Tamesis også et ideelt utgangspunkt for dagsturer til London.

Tamesis House har som mål å tilby service av høy kvalitet og er stolt av sin vennlighet, for å gjøre gjestenes opphold i Oxford til en hyggelig opplevelse. De tilbyr overnatting i juli, august og september, og tilbyr enkeltrom, tomannsrom, dobbeltrom og familierom med standard og eget bad som passer de flestes behov. Gruppebestillinger er hjertelig velkomne.

Innsjekking er mellom kl. 14.00 og 20.00 på Tamesis House, 45 Iffley Road (hjørnet av Circus Street), Oxford OX4 1ED.

Etter kl. 20:00 sjekker du inn på St Edmund Hall, Queen's Lane, Oxford OX1 4AR (ca. 9 minutters gange fra Tamesis).

Historie

St Edmund Hall is one of Oxford University's 37 Colleges.

The Tamesis House was five houses that were originally called Magdalen Terrace, which was built by 1863 and was one of the earliest blocks of large houses to be built on the Iffley Road.

Purchased in the 1980s by St Edmund Hall, the Tamesis House is used to house 3rd-year Students for nine months of the year.  During the summer the College opens Tamesis House to visitors from across the globe.

There is a great selection of eateries to cater for all tastes in Oxford with a wide variety of offerings within a few hundred metres of Tamesis House on the High Street, Cowley Road and St Clements. Guests will find a QR code postcard in their room with more information.

Begrunnelse og hager

Christ Church Meadow is a short walk away; the Meadow is a great place to relax. There is a lovely tree-lined walk down to the River Thames and there are lots of grass areas which would make an ideal spot for a picnic. Guests could also spend an afternoon in the famous Botanical Gardens, while punt and rowing boat hire can be found below Magdalen Bridge, which is just a 5 minutes’ walk from the Tamesis House.

Public laundry facilities are available, as are an iron and ironing board for guests to use. The reception team can help at any time should assistance be required.

Hairdryers can be requested (subject to availability); these can be borrowed from the reception team

Tamesis Guest House suited my needed wonderfully for my short stay in Oxford. I spent most of my time out but found the room comfortable for sleeping. All my basic needs were met (hot water for tea, shower, hair dryer, etc.). Remember to bring a washcloth and shampoo and conditioner! Overall, great experience and great location for my needs! Would recommend for the value.

A great stay. Beds were comfortable and shower was clean and breakfast of fruit, yogurts, breads and cereal was included. Added perk, relatively cheap parking if spaces available and easy location to walk Oxford from. Definitely a good place to stay

The staff were very friendly and looked after us particularly well. Breakfast was good, the room was clean and comfortable. A good place to stay for a couple of days, but might seem a bit far away from the centre of the city for a longer duration.

By Car:  Situated on the Iffley Road: Sat Nav users please use the OX4 1ED postcode. There is no car parking. 

By Train: Walking from the station takes approximately 30 mins. Should guests have luggage to carry, it is suggested they take a taxi from outside Oxford Station. Alternatively, they could catch the No 5 bus and ask to be dropped off at the 1st stop on the Cowley Road. It is then a question of crossing the road, walking the short length to the end of Circus Street, and Tamesis Guest House is on the left.  

By Air:  Guests can take the Airline bus to Oxford and are advised to ask the driver to drop them off in St Clements then follow the direction of the bus until they reach the Plain Roundabout.  They should then take the second exit on the roundabout (Iffley Road), walk for 200 metres and will find the residence on their left.  Reception is just inside the front door.
