Oversikt

Mansfield College er et av de minste av de 39 høyskolene ved University of Oxford, og har en ideell beliggenhet i en frodig del av Oxford sentrum, nær universitetsparkene og vitenskapsområdet, og 5 minutters gange fra sentrum.

Høyskolen tilbyr overnatting på studentrom i ferieperiodene.

Innkvarteringen består av en blanding av tradisjonelle studentrom og arbeidsrom, alle med felles bad (enkeltrom og tomannsrom), i tillegg til moderne enkeltrom med eget bad. Alle innkvarteringene ligger på høyskolens hovedområde.

Det er ingen parkeringsmuligheter tilgjengelig ved høyskolen.

College Porter's Lodge er åpen 24 timer i døgnet, og ankomst sent på kvelden/tidlig morgen er tillatt etter forhåndsavtale.

Historie

The College transferred to Oxford from Birmingham in 1886 and became a Free Church centre for the study of theology, preparing students from any dissenting denomination for the ministry. Building work began on the current college site, which was purchased from Merton College in October 1886 and was completed at a cost of £40,000 in October 1889. The original Gothic style buildings are regarded as amongst the finest work of the prominent Victorian Architect, Basil Champneys.

Mansfield admitted its first female student, Constance Todd, who later became the first woman to be ordained to the Christian ministry in Britain in 1913. The College also became a Permanent Private Hall in 1955 and received a Royal Charter in 1995, becoming a full college of the University of Oxford.

The College is a small, friendly college with around 540 students and 90 staff, some of who belong to the Senior Common Room. It has a reputation within and beyond Oxford of encouraging applications from the state sector and in particular from students in Further Education.

The College dining facilities are open for breakfast between 7.45-8.45am Monday - Saturday and 8.15-9.15am on Sundays.

Special dietary requirements can be catered for on request.

The College has a Crypt Cafeteria and Bar with an outdoor Terrace.

Visitors are welcome to make use of the College bench seating situated around the quadrangle where they can enjoy views of the College and soak up the atmosphere of the beautiful Victorian buildings.

All bedrooms are fully equipped with bed linen, towels and tea and coffee making facilities. WiFi is free for the first four hours of daily use, with a small, on-line fee payable after that.

Laundry facilities are available at the College. Further details are available from the Porters' Lodge.

Hairdryers are available from the Porter's Lodge.

Ironing boards and irons are located on each staircase for guest use.

Luggage can be stored at the Porter's Lodge for early arrivals or late departures.

We stayed in this wonderful college at the first floor with a mesmerizing view on the school's gardens. Warm welcome, historical place well taken care of, drapes are included, common sanitaires cleaned regularly. The only problem, we can hear pretty clearly the upstairs rooms, the wooden floor wouldn't stop creaking under people's feet. The most wonderful thing was having breakfast in the chapel, just beautiful, but pay care to the schedules, you can't arrive late. Unforgettable stay.

We booked 3 rooms for friends which were a family of 5. The porters were friendly and the location of the College was close to the city centre yet very quiet. I was told the breakfast served was lovely and the cafe was nice. All in all a good experience. I would recommend staying at Mansfield College again. Janet C.

Great stay at Mansfield College. Rooms were very comfy and convenient. The location on the quadrangle is just stunning! Facilities were handy and super clean. We stay 2 nights and our towels were changed, that is nice but did not seem necessary at all, that is all we can say!

We had wonderful experience staying at Mansfield College. The rooms were spacious and the linens were very nice. It was not the luxury of a modern hotel but that was part of its charm. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. We would stay here again in a heartbeat..

We had a great stay at Mansfield College- the room was spacious, functional and had everything we needed. Easy access to town and beautiful grounds to spend a summer's evening. Friendly check in, great breakfast in the chapel- all really great value.

The staff was extremely helpful and very supportive. We could stay with our daughter and she loved the Harry Potter vibes in the chapel! We would love to come back and visit the new dorms!

All guests are requested to report to the Porters' Lodge on arrival. It could be possible for you to arrive after midnight and before 7.00am. However, you will need to contact the College (via the Additional Information box on the booking form) to agree to this on an individual basis.

The College is located only a few minutes walk from Oxford City Centre.

Gloucester Green Coach/Bus Station and Oxford Railway Station are only a short walk or taxi ride away.

Luggage can be stored at the College should you arrive before your accommodation is ready.
