Oversikt

Murray Edwards College er et moderne og inspirerende universitet som ønsker besøkende velkommen og tilbyr vennlig service i en avslappet atmosfære under universitetsferiene, og har blitt tildelt 4 stjerner av VisitEngland for den høye standarden på overnatting for B&B-gjester og konferansedeltakere.

Høyskolen huser The Women's Art Collection, som nylig ble omtalt i Vogue Magazine, som et av de mest stilfulle stedene å besøke i Cambridge.

Høyskolen ligger en hyggelig 10-minutters spasertur over Magdalena-broen og elven Cam til det historiske sentrum. Gratis parkering er tilgjengelig på stedet etter først til mølla-prinsippet.

Rommene brukes av studenter i løpet av semesteret, så du får en ekte studentopplevelse! Det er lagt til noen ekstra bekvemmeligheter for gjestene, inkludert forfriskninger på rommet, toalettartikler, håndklær og sengetøy. Alle rommene har gratis Wi-Fi.

Historie

Murray Edwards College was founded as ‘New Hall’ in 1954; six years after the University began awarding women degrees. The College was founded to welcome all outstanding young women of potential, no matter what their background, to the University of Cambridge – with a mission to provide the best education for female students possible.

More than 60 years later, this remains absolutely at the heart of their existence. They chose to remain a College for women in recognition of the fact that there is still much gender inequality facing women in the world today. Thus there is a need for institutions such as theirs which offer the additional focus on women’s education, to make sure their students get the most from Cambridge and, later, to help them meet the challenges of the workplace.

Alumna you may have heard of: Include Sue Perkins, Mishal Husain, Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Tilda Swinton, Claudia Winkleman and the previous President Dame Barbara Stocking.

I had a great experience at Murray Edwards accommodation and food. The reception staff were very helpful. The only issue was no air-conditioning in the room, and I needed to leave the windows open due to the warm weather. However, each morning from 5am there were delivery trucks/refuse collection trucks that made noise!

The stay was really good, very clean and well appointed room, very friendly staff, good food - an art collection way way above the quality anything in a branch of Soho House! Breakfasting while looking at early work by Lubaina Himid will not be forgotten!

By Car

From the M11, take junction 13 onto the A1303 towards Cambridge city centre

From the A14, take junction 31 onto the A1307 towards Cambridge city centre

Car parks:

For visitors, parking is available in the Storey's Way car park, which is the largest. If you are using a sat-nav, CB3 0DR will guide you to the car park entrance. This is not the postcode of the College for postal or delivery purposes (which is CB3 0DF).

Please note:

You must register your vehicle with the Porters if utilising one of the car parks. You can do so by completing the online form here.
Storey's Way is closed to through vehicular traffic. This means that the entrance to the College car park can only be accessed by entering Storey's Way from Madingley Road.
The gate to the car park is always closed. Once you approach, please use the intercom to speak with a Porter. Once parked, follow the footpath and internal signage to the Porters' Lodge.
There is also have a smaller, 26-space car park located next to Paula Browne House Conference Centre, which is accessed from Huntingdon Road. Please only park here if you have been advised to by the Events team or your event organiser. CB3 0SH is the post code for this area of the site.
The nearest public car park is Castle Hill, a 5-minute walk from the Porters' Lodge.

By Bike

Cambridge is one of the best places to cycle in the UK and has an extensive cycle network.
Cycle parking is available close to the Porters’ Lodge on Buckingham Road, off Huntingdon Road.
