Magdalen College, Oxford

Large, ground floor room with simple functional facilities matching what you would anticipate for a student’s en-suite room. Perfectly comfortable for short stay. Beverage making items and kettle, mini toiletries, plus towels provided. The room window faced the road. I stayed on a Friday night but traffic was light and did not disturb my sleep. The breakfast was excellent and served in the great hall which is a fascinating space. The included access to the college grounds was a wonderful bonus.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Magdalen! Stunning college grounds and equally stunning architecture from different eras, including a beautiful Medieval cloister and stunning dining hall. I also really enjoyed walking all the path around the water meadow (complete with beautiful deer)! All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. My room was very comfortable - very much a university hall bedroom, which is what I expected! I would definitely return here again and I thought it was well priced.

Spectacular setting, excellent room and breakfast. Downsides - lots of stairs to get to the room (difficult with baggage), and location of toilet not clear. The porters kindly came to help me find it (they didn’t know where it was either). Eventually located it on 2nd floor, up 32 more steps from my room. I loved it, and would stay there again any time, but I am a reasonably fit 76 year old; others may well struggle.

the shared toilet/bathroom was not convenient at all. The toilet space was quite crowded with stuff (like a bucket), and narrow. The bathroom didn't have any soap dish and the shower head was not fully detachable which made it inconvenient, and also hard to clean after using it. The room was comfortable, and the college was beautiful. Breakfast was nice, although a little more variety would be nice from day to day

I had a splendid two nights at Magdalen. The breakfast was abundant and the room was functional but clean and comfortable. I should add that the people in reception were exceptionally friendly and helpful. If there was just one niggle it was that there was no information as to where the nearest toilet was and I had to go up and down stairs to track it down the first time. But thank you for your hospitality.

Breakfast incredible, but early - 8-9.30am. I was in a large room with a sofa, which was awesome, and very old. The shower and bathroom that I had to use was tinnnyyyyyyyyy but worked well. I love how every time I book in to M college it's always a different experience. Shout out to the Porters who were absolutely amazing - friendly, informative and just made my stay. Thank you!

Lovely staff and the college is beautiful. Everyone from reception, to the staff who clean the rooms and those who served the breakfast were lovely. The bathrooms could really use some renovation and were very small. Would recommend that these are updated to accommodate guests and students in the future.

The ghost was obedient and didn't disturb my sleep. All in all a very good experience.
