Magdalen College, Oxford

University residence

The river Cherwell runs through Magdalen's grounds which include over 100 acres of parkland - a beautiful and tranquil area in the heart of the city. Along with the magnificent cloisters, deer park and quads with formal lawns and borders, they claim to be the most beautiful college in Oxford are not without foundation.

The College offers rooms on its main site but also rooms in their Waynflete Building across Magdalen Bridge, with stunning views of the College. In this building, modest rates do not include breakfast. Whichever Magdalen accommodation you choose to book, you can be sure of a warm welcome at the Porters' Lodge, from one of the property's student staff or the porters themselves. One of them will show you to your room and answer any queries you may have. You will also have free access to the College main grounds.

Important notice: There are no passenger lifts in the accommodation buildings, and are unable to provide parking at the College.

I was utterly astonished at the beauty everywhere – fantastic cloisters, surprises at every turn. The buildings were in very good shape and very...

The view of the river and Magdalen bridge fully made up for it. The price is fabulous for the location. The breakfast in the M...

We wanted to the "college" experience and it was perfect. The rooms were no frills, but we expected to see how it was like to be a "student". The grounds and buildings are stunning and so tranquil. Thank you - it was a lovely stay. The young people enjoyed the open day tremendously and learned...

Nice spacious flat overlooking the botanical gardens. The whole process was very easy and the Porters at the college friendly & helpful. Free access to the college grounds & breakfast in the hall really make the stay a far better experience than staying in a hotel. We will definitely visit again.

Beautiful location and surroundings. Rooms simple but completely fine - good shower / bathroom etc. Would definitely recommend as a good value way to stay in Oxford, with the added bonus of getting to spend a little time on the stunning campus.

The porters were helpful. Breakfast very good and surroundings of the college excellent. Room was a bit bare, dated and slightly drab. Everything else fine. Convenient location for supermarket, university and bus stops to London.
