Overview

The river Cherwell runs through Magdalen's grounds which include over 100 acres of parkland - a beautiful and tranquil area in the heart of the city. Along with the magnificent cloisters, deer park and quads with formal lawns and borders. They claim to be the most beautiful college in Oxford which are not without foundation.

The College offers rooms on its main site but also rooms in their Waynflete Building across Magdalen Bridge, with stunning views of the College. In this building, modest rates do not include breakfast. Whichever Magdalen accommodation you choose to book, you can be sure of a warm welcome at the Porters' Lodge, from one of the property's student staff or the porters themselves. One of them will show you to your room and answer any queries you may have. You will also have free access to the College main grounds.

Important notice: There are no passenger lifts in the accommodation buildings, and there is no parking at the College but there is chargeable public parking nearby.

Very convenient as we had come to Oxford for my daughter's graduation. It was very helpful being able to leave luggage during the day. The rooms were clean and basic (as you would expect from undergraduate accommodation), but had everything we needed. The college is beautiful and it was a shame that we didn't have enough time to look around properly.

I had an enjoyable time staying at Magdalen College for four nights in the dorms above the Sainsbury. The check-in staff at the porters lodge was friendly and welcoming and gave me all the information I would need. Housekeeping regularly replenished my tea and made the bed. Price-wise, it was a little on the higher-end. Nonetheless; would come back.

This is very basic accommodation but fine for the price. Shared toilet/shower along the corridor, kettle and coffee in the room. Highlight was "bottomless" breakfast in hall and a stroll around the college, which is undeniably beautiful. Staff very pleasant and helpful. I'd definitely do this again for a one-night visit.

Reasonably priced, clean and suitable for a nights stay. Porters really friendly and helpful. Breakfast not included in price but available at the college and was lovely. Could look around college after checkout and it was beautiful.

The guys at the Lodge were lovely. The room is well located. Basic but clean and well maontained. Comfortable bed. Hot water in the shower. I was visiting a friend + ot was just perfect.

Perhaps the facilities could be updated a little, but great value for money, had everything I needed and both the porters and housekeeping staff were all lovely

SarahT

Excellent accommodation in the very centre of the city. Clean and friendly helpful staff

FelicityC

Everything was great, but the power in the shower was a bit weak.

JohnS

For the location and price, this was a great option for the stay.
