概述

Worcester College is known for its contrasting architecture, 26 acres of grounds and award-winning gardens. The College is conveniently located in central Oxford with Gloucester Green bus station nearby and only a 5-minute walk from the train station. Within walking distance, guests can explore museums, attend theaters, enjoy cinemas, and indulge in the vibrant atmosphere of bars and restaurants, making it an ideal choice for accommodation in Oxford.

With well-maintained gardens, serene courtyards, and a rich history dating back to the 18th century, guests can enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. The college provides a comfortable and welcoming environment, making it an ideal place to unwind and explore the cultural richness of Oxford.

Famous alumni include: Richard Adams, Russell T. Davies, Sir John Masterman, Rachel Portman, Thomas De Quincey, Samuel Foote and Elena Kagan.

Accommodation is offered in one of the student accommodation areas.

历史

There has been an educational establishment on the Worcester College site for over 725 years. First founded as Gloucester College in 1283 by Benedictine Monks, Worcester College was established on 29th July 1714. The College has a long and rich history - reflected most notably in the diversity of the buildings.

Breakfast is served in the Hall Monday - Saturday from 08:30 - 10:00, on Sundays from 09:00 - 10:00; continental breakfast is served on Sunday.

All guests can enjoy the 26-acre gardens and grounds, including the lake and the sports field. The College gardeners work in co-operation with the Oxford University Botanical Gardens and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew to oversee the grounds which contain several rare plants and trees and are considered to be among the finest historic gardens in Oxford.

The room was fine, the ensuite bathroom leaves a little to be desired (floor discolouration, wood frame of door needs repair), toilet paper of low quality. Most disappointing was to not have even a plastic cup in the room upon arrival for drinking water. No small kettle. Tea bags? None. Sealed small milk containers for tea? None. Anything for reception of guest, apart from room? No. Due to attending a conference I didn’t get chance to enjoy breakfast which I heard was of GOOD QUALITY.

All was fine. The room was clean and well prepared and I felt very comfortable. Maybe, to notes: the fridge was set increasingly high so that my bottles with beverages were frozen. Given that Worcester College is very keen on energy saving, I found the setting unreasonably. The showerhead mount is loose and slips out of the bracket. Maybe, this could be fixed at the next opportunity? Breakfast was fine and fresh and everything needed was available.

I know they are student rooms but given the size of the event and number of guests putting a box of tea and coffee and some milk in the communal kitchen would have made a huge difference with little cost. Great experience to be back though and I hope to do it again at the earliest opportunity. Food was sublime

So lovely to be back in one of the most gorgeous colleges in Oxford. The room is not 5 star luxury but it’s not a student room either. Comfortable bed, good shower, everything clean and well presented. I will definitely be back! Thank you for a memorable stay.

Wonderful experience. The Gardens and Lake were magnificent and the College staff amazingly helpful and attentive. The formal Lunch was excellent and the daily breakfasts provided everything one could possibly want for a great start to the day!

For university accommodation the rooms were as expected and the value was good. However, I’d suggest not using the rooms over the main entrance to the accommodation block due to the late night noise.

Thank you all for a really super stay. The room was perfect and it was great to share such a great breakfast with everyone the next day. Really appreciate the dairy free and vegan options too.

The Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day, however, guests arriving after 5.00 pm can access the College by ringing the doorbell. Worcester College does not have any luggage storing facilities, guests must take their luggage with them on departure.

The College is located within 5 minutes walking distance from the Gloucester Green Bus station and 10 minutes walking distance from Oxford train station.

By Car: The College is unable to offer parking on site. The City operates a very convenient Park and Ride scheme.

By Train: A direct service operates between Oxford and London Paddington (approximately every 30 minutes), and between Oxford and Birmingham New Street via Banbury and Coventry. Other services operate from the north via Birmingham New Street; from the South via Reading; and from the west via Didcot or Reading. A taxi should cost under £10 from Oxford station to the residence.

By Air: London Heathrow and Gatwick airports are linked to Oxford by The Airline coach service, which operates a direct frequent service twenty-four hours a day.
