Overview

Duchy House is near to many popular attractions such as Somerset House, The Courtauld Gallery, The Lyceum Theatre, South Bank London, Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Oxford Street. It is also easily accessible thanks to excellent transportation links, which include five underground stations within 800 meters of the property and many local bus routes.

A four-story 19th-century building with double and single occupancy bedrooms and elevator access. Guests can choose between en-suite (private bathroom) and standard single rooms (with an external bathroom shared with one other guest).

Duchy House is located on the junction of the Strand and Waterloo Bridge (the building's entrance is located between Leon Restaurant and Café Nero on Waterloo Bridge (postcode WC2R 1HG) and across the road from the vibrant and bustling Covent Garden. Thus, whilst road traffic and the night-time economy in this part of London might pose a noise issue, windows in all bedrooms are fitted with secondary glazing. Guests wishing for a quieter stay should, therefore, request in the ‘Additional information’ section of the booking form a ‘rear-facing room, whilst those wishing to see out onto the Strand and Lyceum Theatre should request a ‘street side’ room. Please be aware that not all requests can be matched. The allocations are subject to availability and room type are chosen.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the location was brilliant. There was no hairdryer in the room (but I'm sure they would have provided one if asked) and the room was very cramped as an extra single bed had been put in a single room to make it a double. But it was fine for one night and great value for central London. I would stay again if going to a show or exhibition in central London. There is actually no price reduction to go in the Courtauld Gallery by the way!

Fantastic prices for a central location. Rooms very basic but if you only need a bed to sleep then this is perfect. However note that during summer some of the rooms are extremely hot and there is no air conditioning. Which for me was unbearable. Nao on the front desk was fantastic and so friendly and helpful. She helped me out several times with issues and bent over backwards to help. Thank you again Nao. I would give 5 stars but feel i must deduct one because of the temperature in the room.

Absolutely fantastic location, the rooms are nothing special but work well. I really cannot believe not more people are using this, cheapest highest quality accommodation i’ve ever seen in london ! Matilda helped us check in early, and along with all the staff i spoke to, was super lovely and willing to help with any issues !

Staffs are so nice, can ask hair dyers from them. So glad their services are 24 hours, we can ask them for help after we back to the room like (23:00). Quite hot in the room in the summer, and the windows hard to open for women. Btw, Good location and good price, very good for the short trip

The room was clean and comfortable and we had the use of the kitchen and fresh drinking water (very useful given the heat at that time). The young people on duty for very pleasant and helpful. We had a lovely view out onto the street. We will definitely come back when next on London.

Fantastic location. Really appreciated the laundry, kitchen, and common room. Fabulous storage. Would be nice to have a mirror above the sink for shaving, and to have some way to keep the bathroom door open.
