History to the present day

Homerton College has an unusual and interesting history which commenced with a London society in 1730 eventually aquiring our current site the Cavendish College, Cambridge in 1894.  It became a ladies college due to the University not approving of a mixed college at that time and did not start taking men again until 1976.

It was not until 2010 that Homerton was finally granted full collegiate status as a self-governing college of the University of Cambridge. Homerton is one of the largest colleges in Cambridge and also very proud to be known as the friendliest College.
