Overview

117 St Aldates Building is an annexe of Christ Church and is centrally located, just across and at the top of the road from the main site.

Guests are accommodated in newly refurbished, comfortable double ensuite bedrooms with a standard double bed (for single or double occupancy) (all guests must be over 18). A selection of rooms has street-facing windows (please note there may be noise disturbance) but many have restricted views over the backs of other buildings. The rooms are located over four floors and can be accessed by a lift.

Check-in at the Porters’ Lodge within Christ Church, located at the main entrance, off Tom Gate. For arrivals after 1930, Tom Gate will be closed so please use the bell on the left-hand side to alert the porter in order to gain access.

The lodge reception is staffed 24 hours a day and is the only information point for 117 St Aldates Building as there is no separate reception in the annexe.

The college is unable to accept bookings for Stag and Hen groups and can only accommodate adults (aged 18 and over). This includes babies/children sharing a room with adults. If such a booking is made you will be asked to cancel it, the refund amount will be in live with T&Cs or if you arrive at the property you will be refused entry and no refund will be given.

The room was very hot when I arrived, and despite NOT having the heating on at any point, it always got very hot if I closed the windows. And since the street is extremely noisy at night at the weekend, it was either unbearably hot or far too noisy at night to sleep properly. My guess is that there are un-insulated hot water pipes running underneath the (false) floor of the room? Other than that, the facilities were fine (obviously fairly rudimentary) and the room was spacious and clean.

Building is centrally located and had a lift, which was great as we were on the 4th floor. The room was compact, but very workable for 2 adults. It was serviced everyday and spotless. There was some traffic noise as we faced the street, but it slowed down at night and became negligible. There was no noise from the Sainsbury's a few doors down and it was very convenient The absolute best was being able to have breakfast in the Great Hall. Lodge porters were very helpful.

Very central location and the service was excellent with friendly staff. Breakfast at the college was a highlight. The room was basic but functional. Unfortunately the light in the room when turned off had a green glow (for safety?) which was not ideal as was too bright for sleeping. Toiletries were nice, all in all a good stay and would book again.

room comfortable, well-insulated (including against street noise), very conveniently sited. Nice to have access to Christ Church for breakfast (though it would be even nice if serving could continue till later than 9.00 on weekdays).

Staff were really friendly even thought we turned up really late so hadn't been able to check in before our event. The room was spotless and comfortable. Sadly we had to leave early so didn't get to try the breakfast. Great location

Very convenient for the city centre. Breakfast in the Great Hall was excellent (except the coffee!). All the staff at Christchurch were very welcoming and helpful. Thank you.

Clean, tidy accommodation in the heart of Oxford, friendly and helpful staff at the college, and wonderful to have breakfast in the great hall. A lovely experience all round.

Anon

Clean, quiet and comfortably room at back of building. Breakfast really good and enjoying it in the Great Hall was a privilege.

It was a pity that the lift could not be used and had to climb up and down. Otherwise, the stay was good.
