Historia

EPA are the initials of Sir Edward Penley Abraham, one of the pioneers of biomedical research. He developed the class of antibiotics known as cephalosporins, used amongst other things in the fight against diphtheria and typhoid fever. Unlike Florey, he was able to patent his cephalosporin and the money generated through royalties was used to form the Edward Abraham Fund. Lincoln College has benefited from the EPA Trust with the provision of new accommodation and conferencing complex, named the Lincoln EPA Science Centre. The accommodation is located within a row of Victorian terraces on Museum Road; these were converted to student halls of residence between 2003 and 2006.

Lincoln College itself is located on Turl Street. It was founded in 1427 by Richard Fleming, the Bishop of Lincoln. It was named after his Cathedral as "The College of the Blessed Mary and All Saints". Lincoln is among the oldest of the Turl Street Colleges, and one of the least spoilt legacies of the Middle Ages. According to Nikolaus Pevsner, Lincoln College "preserves more of the character of a 15th-century College than any other in Oxford".

Guests of the EPA Centre are welcome to visit Lincoln College between the hours of 2pm and 5pm daily.
