Introduction

St Catharine's is a vibrant and successful community of scholars who are delighted to welcome visitors to our city and College.

All the rooms we provide are used during term time by our undergraduate students. They are therefore not equipped to four star hotel standard (we do not for instance have trouser presses or TVs in rooms). We can however guarantee clean and comfortable rooms with tea/coffee making facilities; towels and toiletries; radio alarm clocks; and a telephone.

Please be aware that all our en-suite, twin and standard rooms are located in different parts of the building, therefore if you are booking more than one type of room, they are unlikely to be very close to each other. It would be helpful if you could specify which names would like which type of room if so.

Histoire

St Catharine's, or "Catz" as the College is affectionately known, was founded in 1473, by Robert Woodlark. He chose a small site next to Kings and a close relationship with that college has been maintained. Originally a small college, it gradually acquired buildings around and was largely rebuilt in the 17th century, with work starting on the Main Court in 1673 and the Chapel being completed in 1704.

Copies of the College history and postcards are available from the Porter's Lodge.

Se restaurer

A hearty traditional English breakfast is served in the College's Great Hall, from 7.45am-9am each day.

Great value for money, and lovely helpful service from the Porters and other staff.
Mr Adam W

The room was better than I expected with an ensuite bathroom and in that sense was as good as any hotel. Breakfasts were also good overall although there did seem to be a lack of fresh orange juice.
Mr Steven J

I forgot there was no hairdryer in the room, but a great position, close to just about everything, and I hope to be back again next year.
Mrs Tina H

It's pleasant to have a tap in the room and the bathroom and toilets very close. The room opened on a quiet garde. All was very clean. The Porters helpful. Breakfast in the Hall was good and in a very pleasant surrounding. I recommend St Catherine.
Dr Liliane G

I highly recommend this place, you save money and you experience Cambridge at its best. Great breakfast and service, awesome location! Very kind and available doormen at the entrance for information. Would definitive stay here if in Cambridge again!
Mr William S

Everything was just right, my friend from New Zealand had a suitcase which we were pleased to be able to leave while we did sightseeing.
Ms Diana G

I love my stay at St. Catharine's College. It is right in the heart of Cambridge, yet it was quiet and comfortable. I loved staying at one of the colleges -- they are such storied, iconic places. My room was comfortable and the fridge made it perfect, since it was too rainy to venture far, so I bought some food and ate in my room. Breakfast was fun, too, because it offered an opportunity to talk to all kinds of people. Also, when I checked out, it was terrific to have a safe place to store my luggage while I attended meetings. All in all, a wonderful time.
Ms Elaine S

Excellent. Cannot fault. Website good. Accommodation, central location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and decent size room. Good choices for breakfast. Would stay at St Catherine's accommodation again. I use University Rooms/Speedy bookers when ever I can.
Ms Norma W

Though small (bathroom very small) it was clean and tidy and served its’ purpose really well having a great location and comfortable enough bed. Breakfast was perfectly adequate and would be so for any appetite. The porters were a credit to college by being friendly, informative and doing their work with good humour.
Mr Thomas R

Porters were lovely and helpful - went out of their way to help. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Food generally good but vegetarian and there were limited options. Overall great and would stay again - thank you
Ms Raelene H
