Historia

Since its opening in 1929, Rhodes House has been an Oxford landmark, a historic Grade II* listed country house in the heart of the city.

Today, it is also home to the city's newest and most technologically advanced conference and convening centre, creating the ideal spaces to bring people together.

The perfect place for your stay.

Rhodes House is an Arts and Crafts gem in central Oxford, which has been updated and reimagined for the 21st Century. They have sensitively restored the beautiful, handcrafted interiors of the house, while creating airy and modern convening spaces, with connectivity and technology to connect you with the world.

Terrenos y jardines

Step outside Rhodes House to find yourself in the gardens, with sumptuous planting by the renowned head gardener Neil Wigfield and generous terracing where you can meet, sit, think, and enjoy. A green haven in central Oxford.

In the last few years, the Rhodes House Gardens have won three Silver and four Gold awards in the Oxford in Bloom competition. The gardens enjoy afternoon and evening sun throughout the summer and autumn

The lovely Rhodes House gardens have naturalistic planting to encourage biodiversity, reflecting the way that wild flowers grow. The wildflower meadow attracts pollinators and provides diverse wildlife habitats in the city.

My sister and I stayed at Rhodes House, Oxford. I stayed in the original house, my sister in a new ‘underground’ bedroom. Both were fascinating in their very different ways - mine redolent of past times with an open fireplace (now part of a shower room), the modern room stylish and sleek. We explored the beautiful garden, tended by a friendly and knowledgeable gardener and had a guided tour of the old house. A fantastic and quirky introduction to Oxford which leaves conventional hotels standing.

I'm descended from 2 Rhodes scholars, W Kent Hughes 1915 (delayed til 1919 for active duty in WWI), and R Sheil 1956. Quite a privilege to stay here. Beautiful spacious room, great location, helpful and kind staff. Thrilled to be given an impromptu tour. I would like to encourage the trust to consider an honour board for all Rhodes Scholars (past and future) be incorporated into the panelling of the house. Also a library section in which people can look up a brief bio of each scholar.

After a 10 hour train journey, it was so lovely to relax in my charming attic room at Rhodes House. The interior design is lovely, the room was very clean and the old fireplace and old windows viewing down on the park gave it a wonderful historic atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is located only 6 minutes by foot from the heart of the city. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I hesitate to reveal how lovely it was to stay here because I plan to return someday for a family trip and don’t want to compete to get reservations! This was a fabulous place to get the space and relaxation I’ve been craving. Thank you for being so welcoming and considerate to a traveler. It’s been a long time since I visited before this but I’ll be looking forward to the next time I come and can stay here.

Booked as a surprise for my mum's 70th Birthday. She said the room was beautiful. Bed was very comfortable... she even asked for the matress details to purchase one for home. The staff were very friendly, helpful & attentive. The cafe was lovely with a nice selection of food & drinks. Location was perfect for exploring Oxford & visiting our student. We would happily book to stay again in the future.

I had a lovely stay. My room was spacious and well-situated, and if you know Oxford, you know this is a very central location! I would stay again.
