Magpie Lane House (Oriel College), Oxford

I had the best stay. I wish I knew the names of the two men and French woman who helped me with so much care and kindness at every turn. The accommodation was central to everything, The place was so spacious and beautiful. The history! Wow! The books and art were lovely. I was so happy to be there l-I hated to leave. It was so nice to have that amazing kitchen. The place was so warm and tidy. I hope I can come back! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Jeanine from Arizona.

We were pleased that a member of staff from the Porter’s Lodge walked us to our accommodation and ensured that we were safely installed. He warned us about the steep stairs on arrival. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Tea/ coffee making facilities were much appreciated. However we found accessing the WiFi difficult. In fact we were unsuccessful in doing so. Had the room included an in-college breakfast , it would have been better value for money.

The top flat is lovely. The kitchen is well equipped. It was comfortable and quiet. The stairs, both to the flat and within it, are extremely steep and narrow. If you aren’t fit , or if you have any balance problems, this place might be not be for you. The people in the Porter’s Lodge are very helpful. I would book this flat again. Thank you!

The room was in a great location and was relatively quiet considering we were just off High Street. It did get quite warm and would have benefitted from a fan but overall it was a good deal and I would definitely book again!

The staircase up to the room would be difficult for people with mobility issues, but the room is excellent value: simple, comfortable, and a perfect central location.
